Research
The broad goal of the research conducted in the Adult Cognition Lab is to identify the processes, by which adults acquire, retain, and utilize information and cognitive skills, and to describe and explain how these processes are affected by normal aging. We use experimental methods and quantitative modeling techniques to build and test theories of cognition and how it is affected by normal aging. Our studies contribute to the understanding of the processes that enable middle-aged and older adults to continue to perform effectively in cognitive tasks as well as to the understanding of the processes that limit cognitive function. Our long-term goal is to understand the processes and mechanisms that underlie the potentials and limits of effective cognitive functioning during the adult years.
