Opportunities for undergraduates
Every semester, there are opportunities for a small number of
undergraduates to gain experience in research by helping with studies
being conducted in the Adult Cognition Lab. These opportunities
are available to psychology majors with strong academic credentials
who are interested in learning about research in cognitive aging
and who are planning to pursue graduate study in cognitive psychology
or experimental psychology.
Undergraduate research assistants work closely with Dr. Hoyer
and a graduate student on one or more of the ongoing studies. An
undergraduate research assistant is expected to work about 9 hours
per week on research activities that are pre-arranged and described
in an independent study contract (PSY 490). Undergraduate research
assistants attend weekly lab meetings, and have the opportunity
to learn through experience about many aspects of research in cognitive
psychology and cognitive aging. If you are interested in working
in the lab, please contact Dr. Hoyer.

Opportunities for graduate training
The graduate students and faculty who work in the Adult Cognition
Lab are affiliated with the Graduate Training Program in Experimental
Psychology. One of the aims of this program is to prepare students
for academic and research careers in the experimental psychology
of aging. If you think you might be interested in graduate study
in experimental psychology and in the kinds of projects being conducted
in the Adult Cognition Lab, please contact Dr. Hoyer.
