The Head Start Asthma Project

Description:

The Head Start Asthma Project is funded by the Administration for Children, Youth and Families. Its primary goal is to understand the challenges that families face with preschool age children in managing their asthma. We aim to translate our findings into easy to understand strategies that can be shared with Head Start nurses and families. Mary Spagnola received a National Head Start Disseration Scholar Award to conduct the study with 80 families whose children are enrolled in area Head Start programs. Dr. Fiese serves as a National Head Start Dissertation mentor. Mary has worked closely with the Head Start P.E.A.C.E. organization to make this program a success.
