Dr. V. Ravi, Co-Investigator

Dr. V. Ravi is the Professor and Head, Department of Neurovirology at the National Institute of Mental Health and Neuro Sciences (NIMHANS), Bangalore, India. He completed his medicine in 1980 from Madras Medical College, Madras University and MD (Microbiology), 1983 from Madras University. Since 1992 Dr.Ravi has also been serving as the Officer-In-Charge of the National AIDS Surveillance Centre located in the Department of Neurovirology . He has received a W.H.O. Short term fellowship for training in ÒLaboratory aspects of HIV and other sexually transmitted diseasesÓ and the Commonwealth Medical fellowship for research in Neurovirology at the Institute of Neurological Sciences, Southern General Hospital, Glasgow, UK. Dr.J.B.Srivastav Oration Award of the Indian Council of Medical Research - 1997. He is a Member of the Technical Resource Group on Legal and Ethical Issues of AIDS & Master Trainer for National AIDS control Organisation, Govt. of India.1998. He is a member of several national committees such as the ICMR and the National Academy of Medical Sciences, India and a member Executive Committee of the Karnataka State AIDS Prevention Society, 1999. Dr. Ravi has received several prestigious awards national awards and has 60 publications to his credit.
